Basic/ Persons Involved Tab
Please make an effort to get the names of all persons involved, every time. Include these in Persons Involved and indicate their involvement with the incident using the Checkboxes and/or Drop-Down box choices. Checking “EMS Patient” or “Fire Casualty” will automatically transfer their info to the respective tab so that it will not have to be re-entered
It is especially important to obtain and record the information of persons involved for Fire Alarms, EMS calls, code violations and any unauthorized or even authorized burning. This includes the age of the person. If the age is unknown, estimate it. For unauthorized burning or code violation incidents where the person refuses to provide the requested information, immediately call for PD or a Fire Investigator.
Likewise, information that identifies persons refusing treatment or not requiring treatment but involved in an incident is extremely important should complications arise post-incident.
Click the "Add" button to create new entry. The white box will display the LastName, Firstname of each person involved. To edit an entry, highlight the appropriate name and make the necessary changes to the fields for that person.
Name-
Enter the persons name into the separate fields. If there is combined name (First and Last) in the last name field when you initially open the report it was very likely exported by VisiCAD. This will be the person who reported the incident. Separate the name into the appropriate fields an select "Reporting Party" from the Drop Down box entitled "Other Involvement"
Age-
Enter an age for the person if known. If unknown, estimate the age and click the "Estimated' box beside the Age Field. This useful especially when the name of the person is unknown.
Address-
The instructions for completing the address fields are the same as those given for the Address fields on the Basic/Location tab.
Incident Address Button - DO NOT use this button unless the person selected in the white box to the left lives at the address of the incident.
Business Name-
If the incident occurred at a business or apartment complex, enter "Business" in the Last Name field and then enter the name of the business here. This entry should have the "Occupant" box checked as well.
Phone Number-
Make every effort to obtain and enter the telephone number of the person.
Association Checkboxes-
Every person whose name appears in the white box on the left-hand side of this tab will need to be associated with the incident by using the checkboxes and "Other Involvement" Drop Down menu. Check all boxes that apply to a given person and review the choices available in "Other Involvement". It is not unusual for multiple checkboxes, along with one of the "Other Involvement" choices, to apply to one or more persons listed. Checking “EMS Patient” or “Fire Casualty” will automatically transfer their info to the respective tab so that it will not have to be re-entered. Each entry listed MUST be associated with the incident using the checkboxes or Other Involvement field.
Delete Button-
Highlight an entry in the white box and click this button to remove the entry and all associated information from the tab. This normally does not remove the entries exported to the EMS and Casualties tabs. If the entry association included these checkboxes, they tab will have to be visited and the procedure repeated for each.
In rare instances there will be no information to record on this tab. The default entry will be present and seen as a period in the white box. DO NOT try to highlight this entry or an error will result and force FireRMS to close. To delete this entry simple click on the "delete" button while the blank yellow Last Name field is visible. Answer "yes" to the resultant confirmation dialog.
Other Options Button -
If the report tabs and sub-tabs are completed in the order they are displayed there is very little use for the functions listed in the dialog box activated by this button. It is used to export information on the entry selected to another area of the report. The choices are self-explanatory. This same button is present on the Casualties and EMS tabs. It can be used to send information "back" to the Persons Involved tab in the event that a person is overlooked when this tab is initially completed.
