When signing on to the computer after you have restarted it, or if you are logging on as a different user by clicking on the “Start” button, and choosing “Log off….” use these guidelines:
a. If you are at a station and just need access to I drive, use:
username- AFD-5 password- AFD
Substitute the number of the station you are at. Be sure to capitalize this and include the dash. This will let you on to anything on I drive, Sunpro, or the AS400.
b. If you are an officer or above and need access to G drive as well as I drive, use:
username- gausem password- gau##, or whatever password you have.
This will let you on to G drive to the folders where you have the security level to be. Only officers and above have their own accounts for logging into G drive. Be sure to log off when you are finished. Firefighters and drivers must use the generic login shown above in (a.)
*The password for logging on cannot be changed by you. You have to request a change. The assigned password was originally a the first 3 letters of your last name and 2 random numbers. If you have had it changed, we may not have a record of it. Know your username and password and do not give it out to anyone else.
There are several passwords that you must use to gain access to computer resources.
· There is a Windows sign-on/Microsoft Networking password that you have to enter when Windows is first starting. You will also get this if you log off to log on as someone else This password is what determines what access you have to G and I drives. This password cannot be changed by you. The assigned password was originally the first 3 letters of your last name and 2 random numbers.
·
AS400- this is to gain access to the AS400. This password can be
changed by you when you first sign on to the AS400. You use the F-9 key to do
that. If you change it and do not let us know, we cannot help you if you forget
it.
·
AS400 training sign off- This password is for signing off on
training only. There is no way for you or us to change it.
· FireRMS / Sunpro- You can change your own password here after you log in. Go to Tools/Administration/Change Log-in.
· Email passwords- Email accounts are accessed by going to our web page at www.amarillofire.com and clicking on the link for webmail. Your password can be changed by you once you access your account. Individual stations no longer have email accounts.
· You should save files and documents to G or I drive. Both of these drives are network drives that are backed up off of the servers every night. There are folders under each of those drives that give you a logical place to store your files. Normally, files that you want others at your station to have access to, such as truck check-off sheets, equipment lists, and other items that are particular to your station, should be on I drive.
· If you need to limit who should have access to a document, save it on G drive under the officers name. Then only other officers could access it.
· DO NOT save anything to C, D, or E drive on your machine that you do not want to lose. We have to routinely “ghost” the machines and when we do, everything that is saved on one of those drives is written over.
· As a last resort, you can save a file to a diskette. However, these can and do fail
· Do not change any configuration settings on the computer. This includes how the desktop is laid out. We want to standardize the desktops on all of the computers as much as possible.
· Do not add any icons to the desktop
· Do not install any software or download any programs on to the computer.
· Do not download any games or software from the internet.
