EMS

  1. AED-How do I download info from the SurvivaLink AED into the computer?

After using the A.E.D., patient information must be downloaded. The A.E.D.’s will only store information on one patient, consequently, if you make two calls close together we could lose patient information.  Immediately upon returning to the station after a call, download the call from the AED and clear that response from the AED’s memory.

Follow the steps below in the order that they appear to do that:

1.      Go to File and click SAVE.  Say OK to any dialog box that appears.

2.      Go to File again and this time click SAVE AS.  In the box that appears, go to I:\Public Documents Forms\SurvivaLink and click SaveNow you have saved it in both places.

·        To Clear the AED memory, go to Options\Clear Rescue Data and click it.  Say OK to any dialog boxes that appear.  This will remove the incident from the AED memory and make it ready for use.

·        Close the software and unhook the cable from the AED.  It is ready to be put back in service.

·        The last step is to send an email to the EMS District Chief and the EMS Coordinator letting them know that you had a code and the AED was used.  Include the incident number in the message and any other pertinent information that you feel is necessary.

Each A.E.D. should have three sets of pads, do not stock pile pads at your station.        When pads are used call 4238 to request a replacement. Always use the pad with the earliest expiration date.

Make sure that the Pads are plugged in.  Sometimes unplugging them and plugging them back in will fix the problem.  If that does not fix the problem, replace the pads with new ones.

If the red light is on, there may be info in memory.  Go through the process to clear the memory.  Do this by hooking the AED up, going to Options / Clear Rescue Data and going through that process.
